Not just for ballet anymore

Ballet tutus are all the rage. Little girls wear them everywhere, and makers of kids' clothes now fashion tutu skirts for daily wear. A year ago, I bought one for ViMae at Target for a dollar or two. Then I made an elaborate one (which, it turned out, was so poofy that it ends up a twisted mess). She got a couple of different ones for Christmas. And now, ta-da, a tutu swimsuit! Her mommy couldn't resist. If I'd seen it first, I couldn't have resisted, either.

So here she is, modeling it at swim class, accessorized with the cast she is wearing to immobilize a broken foot. Did that stop her from swimming? Not a bit. The cast is waterproof, and it doesn't slow her down much, in water or on dry land. And yes, she really does have a left arm; she's just reaching back to adjust her tutu.  (I stole this photo from her mom's site because I couldn't resist.)

This is just darling! It is amazing what they can do these days. To think that the cast is waterproof. It sounds like nothing slows the cute one down.

Tutus and toddlers! It doesn't get any cuter than that! Here's my own granddaughter Nora, I bought this tutu with fairy wings and headband on Etsy, the website for handmade things.

She is adorable in that tutu swimsuit, makes me smile just to look at her. And that cast looks like an accessory rather than a necessity! Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours!

I would say that I'm borderline obsessed with the new little tutus that are experiencing a resurgence. If I had a daughter, it would be O-V-E-R. And I simply can't think of a more precious accessory. The boys, it seems, have been spared. This is a great picture and a great swimsuit. I saw it at Target last summer and thought that if my nieces were even the least bit girly, I would get it for them. But, alas, they are more about Army green and ninjas. Oh well. There's still time. They may still love pink somewhere down the road.

And the cast? Is amazing. I never had a broken limb growing up, but I definitely remember a large number of my friends who had their arms and legs wrapped in garbage bags just to take a shower. And if you broke an arm or leg at the beginning of summer break? CATASTROPHE. Science is truly amazing.

How did she do it? Jumping off of the bed to follow Nemo? That was such a cute play adventure.
So neat that she can swim in it.
Mine love Tutus...too (o:

So cute. I would have loved to have a tutu swimsuit, but, now, it would just look ridiculous. So awesome that casts are now waterproof!

I just went shopping with my two granddaughters and they both got new tutu skirts...with sequins! I love when the little one twirls around chanting "I'm so beautiful."

My granddaughter loves to flit around in her tutu pretending she's a princess. I can see why you all love the swimsuit take on the theme!

Love the way little girls are wearing their tutu's everywhere! It's such a perfect outfit for them, all puffy and pink and ready for dancing. For me, I can't imagine wearing anything more uncomfortable!!

She is just adorable!

ViMae is adorable. I hope her foot heals OK. I thought tutus were only for dancing..but I can see they make a darling swimsuit! :)

So that's what all the frilly little skirts are about! I've seen versions here and there.

Always nice to see pictures of the grandkids; beautiful, sweet, and innocent. :)
