Celebrating the season...

What is it about Easter candy? We buy it early, eat so much that we have to buy more to fill the Easter baskets, and keep eating it even when (in my case, at least) the artificial coloring produces headaches. I'm seduced by the lovely colors...it all speaks of spring and blossoms and life.

But wait, the same thing happens at Halloween. With candy, I mean. We buy, we eat, we buy more so we have enough to hand out. Face it, it's all about the sugar.

And here's a deep thought: Easter at our house requires Cadbury eggs, but their red, green, and blue foil wrap clashes with all the pastels of the other candy. Now that Cadbury has been bought by Kraft, I hope they maintain their quality, but I also wouldn't mind if they introduced seasonal colors for their foil wrap. I told you it was a deep thought. I notice these things.

Anyway, the kids are back in town and there will be modest Easter baskets (they don't eat a lot of candy yet) and Pa and Grandma will have plenty of candy leftovers! I hope it's a lovely sunny day for you and yours!

Ha! Funny post! The trick is not to even open the silly stuff before the holiday...once that evil bag is opened, all heck breaks loose. : )
Have a wonderful Easter with family.

I agree with M.L. Keep the bag intact. It is evil once opened.

Happy Easter! I hope you have a wonderful day, filled with just the right amount of sweet stuff. Cadbury is good for the soul, no matter the color of the wrapper.

I bought myself one bag of Reese's miniatures. Guess what I'm having for Easter breakfast!

I only bought one bag - Reeses Peanut Butter cups (bite size) and they are all gone - despite not having children any where close!

Happy Easter, enjoy your family! Mine is all spread out - older daughter with her family on the Oregon coast for the weekend, younger daughter in Thailand. I have to admit to missing them.

Happy Easter!!! We had lifesaver jelly beans today... my are they good. I also bought a bag of starburst jelly beans (I love starbursts but HATE opening them) but have been smart enough to leave the bag unopened, for now. Not a cadbury egg fan.... hope I'm not depriving my girl too much! LOL

Hope you had a great time with your little ones!

There use to be lots of candy here and I agree....i use to hate the color of the Cadbury eggs. they looked so out of place. I need things matching and they didn't match!

Hi Blissed-Out! I smiled when I saw the picture - you still get Cadbury Eggs in the green/blue foil. We did when I was a kid, but these days we only get the red/yellow ones. I know they're identical, but I always chose the blue/green when I bought one. But for at least fifteen years *sniff* I've not been able to. Happy Easter! Indigo

My husband and I had a debate about which candy is better: Halloween or Easter. I said Halloween because I like candy corn and Bit o'Honeys, which you only seem to get at Halloween if you're trick or treating and you have an elderly neighbor named Ethel on your street. My husband said Easter because of Peeps and Cadbury Eggs. And I think he likes the wrappers just the way they are ;)
