| WEEKS LEFT! |
Five weeks left! That means ten more trips to the office before I'm officially done. I don't feel sad; it's a very positive change. But even positive change can be difficult. I'm finding it hard to focus, so writing anything - for work or my blog or any other purpose - takes much longer than it normally would. (That's why I've hardly written anything here for several weeks.)
I have three big projects to finish at work, and I keep encountering problems. It's as if I get all the buttons buttoned and then they begin to pop open, one after another.It gets more and more difficult to find the grit and determination to close them up again...and glue and nail them shut.
The fact that I'm doing some of my work from home, and that home is filled with grandkids so much of the time, certainly complicates things. But my colleagues are being extremely patient and understanding. After 28 years on the job, people are willing to cut me a little slack. Bless 'em. And me. I've earned it.

That kept happening to me when I was getting ready to retire, but it finally worked out, because I had an end date, as do you. Even if you're only posting occasionally, I am rooting for you, hoping it all works out in time!
I was there about five months ago, and I understand the aggravation and restlessless. I'm thinking it's pretty normal. Isn't that wonderful?

I retired recently and LOVE it. Yes, that is me shouting with joy. I am happy for you; you will have more time for what is dear to you.
It's so common it has a name: Short-Timer's Disease.
That undercurrent of excitement I'm hearing is musical. Keep on trudgin!
In December it will be two years since I retired. It is hard for me to believe that so much time has passed. Five weeks will go quickly and then you'll have another big adjustment. I wish you all the best. Retirement really is a blessing.
Wow...just five weeks. It'll be gone before you know it. Kind of hard keeping your mind from straying when freedom is such a short distance away. Good luck! and I wish you the best in all that leisure time, that I am sure will still keep you very busy with everything you love.

I would guess you are a bit of a perfectionist also..you have all winter to blog and get used to retirement!:)
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. I semi-retired early about 6 years ago and work part time at home and it's been great, but there are issues that come up. The hardest thing for me is that friends and family think that you now have all this time on your hands and are always asking for some of that precious time from you. I'm just now learning how to say "no". You've earned this extra time to spend any way you want!
Wonderful! You have, indeed, earned your retirement and the right to self-direct fully. Well, as fully as a wife and grandmother can... I know you'll love it. I chucked the outside-the-home job six and a half years ago, and am thrilled. Of course, you may wonder why my closets aren't better organized, and why I haven't completed dozens of projects (quilts, writing, etc.) but that's my own fault... apparently. Go ahead and put me to shame-- I'd love to see you soar!
Enjoy these next few weeks-- you deserve it.
You are so lucky! I can imagine all the things I would/will do when I retire if I'm still able. Not much chance of that any time soon. I do have a great job so no complaints there.
