So beautiful! I have a funny story about lilacs. I love them and always wanted a lilac bush. A few years ago I bought a "lilac" bush at the nursery and planted it by my potting shed. Perfect right? Well, I know it takes a few years to get blooms so about 3 years after I initially planted it, it finally bloomed. Only it was labeled wrong at the nursery - it is NOT a lilac bush. It gets beautiful big white flowers, but they are definitely NOT lilacs. I never did find out what that bush is, but it's still there, blooming every spring!
"When lilacs last in the dooryard bloomed" (poem by, I think, Whitman) always makes me think of spring, as does this wonderful capture. They don't last long. I was out taking pictures of them Saturday, too.
This is a beautiful picture of lilacs. Love all your flower pictures. Our neighbor has a lilac tree that just bloomed and it smells so good when I walk into the back yard.
I grew up in Pennsylvania. The winters got cold enough for Lilacs to flower in the spring. And I would look forward to their wonderful perfume. But I've lived in the deep south for over 30 years and lilacs don't flower here because it doesn't get cold enough to produce the spring blooms.
Your flowers are so pretty. I like Augies thinking At first I thought maybe you were refering to pausing the picture (me thinking it could be a video)...yes I was ready to pause it lol
they are so beautiful I can almost smell them the trees have budded out in the neighborhood... but for some reason have not seen lilacs (o: growing up it was always a great thing to give my Mom because the neighbors let us pick them (o:
Love how they look but they make me sneeze. This distance is just right for me to be able to say oooh ahhhh!
ReplyDeleteI've got a little something-something over at my place for you.
There was a little girl who had a little curl...
